Land Trust of North Alabama protects over 7,000 acres of scenic and historic areas, recreation and wildlife corridors, wetlands, and watersheds. These diverse spaces provide safe haven for the valuable and often delicate plant and wildlife unique to our region. Acquisition of land is only the first critical step in protecting North Alabama’s great natural places. Once land has been acquired, the Land Trust and our partners begin the never-ending work of ensuring that these acres have the proper care to thrive. We also believe that in order to understand the value of nature you have to experience it. In an effort to share the joy and owe that comes with spending time outdoors, the Land Trust provides children and adults environmental education programs and over 70 miles of free trails across 7 public nature preserves to get out and explore!
